Franklin D. Roosevelt Park, one of Los Angeles County’s most historic and enduring community spaces, continues to play a vital role in fostering community engagement and access to essential resources. In 2024, the County achieved a significant milestone with the launch of the Florence-Firestone Tech Center, a collaborative initiative led by Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell (Second District – SD2), Senator Lena A. Gonzalez, the Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Internal Services Department (ISD).

Powered by ISD’s Delete The Divide program, the Tech Center is designed to advance digital equity by providing residents with access to modern technology, resources, and training. Delete The Divide Interns deliver free, hands-on instruction in basic digital skills, ensuring that community members in Florence-Firestone and surrounding neighborhoods are better equipped for education, employment, and everyday digital engagement.

The Tech Center provides a range of technology training programs designed to enhance digital literacy and equip residents with practical skills. Training topics include:

  • Computer Fundamentals: Hardware, navigation, and file management
  • Internet and Email Basics: Safe browsing and email setup
  • Social Media Skills: Profile creation, privacy settings, and messaging
  • Productivity Tools: Word, Excel, Google Docs, and Slides
  • Real-World Digital Tasks: Resume building, cloud storage, job searching, and online collaboration

The Center is located at 7600 Graham Avenue, Los Angeles, CA  90001. It is open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with training sessions offered Tuesday through Friday. Each day features two sessions, 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. These programs provide accessible, hands-on learning opportunities to strengthen digital skills and promote community engagement. Check out the schedules below in English and Spanish:
