On January 9, 2026, DTD distributed 28 laptops to participants of Homeboy Industries’ Youth Re-Entry Program in Boyle Heights, located in Supervisorial District 1. The Youth Re-Entry Program focuses on preventing high-risk, gang-affiliated youth from entering the adult prison system. Each year, Homeboy’s Youth Re-Entry Center serves approximately 100 formerly incarcerated or gang-involved youth, ages 14–24, providing comprehensive wraparound services such as mental health support, academic assistance, college preparation, and career readiness programs.
