On April 11th, Delete The Divide (DTD) partnered with KJLH to sponsor the #LevelUp women-owned small business competition in celebration of Women’s History Month. The winner of the competition was Dr. LaDissa Moore of Integrative Veterinary Services, a mobile veterinary service.

DTD also met with 4 of The Top 5 finalists, providing them with a free laptop and digital marketing assessment. DTD is proud to participate in such an amazing competition helping to delete the digital divide by helping women elevate their small businesses. We believe small business owners deserve access to technology and the tools and skills they need to succeed in this digital age.

Voter Registration and Justice Resource Fair

Delete The Divide participated in the Voter Registration and Justice Resource Fair at the East Los Angeles Civic Center hosted by the Anti-Recidivism Coalition and Los Angeles County Supervisor, Hilda L. Solis. DTD staff engaged with the community and provided information about our programs, including our Digital Assistants who are ready to serve the public with technical assistance at over 40 LA County Library locations. For more information about this program, click here.

The highlight for the DTD booth was distributing 74 laptops to qualifying residents in need! The event also offered essential resources like voting registration, workshops, record expungement, and more. From a vaccine clinic to family activities, it was a day of community empowerment!

Kudos to all involved in making a positive impact! Together, we’re building a stronger community!

Laptops for Veterans

Delete The Divide is an initiative led by the County of Los Angeles to advance digital equity in underserved communities. The initiative includes a range of support programs and services, including the issuance of laptops to households in need. The County is thrilled to announce the success of its Laptops for Veterans campaign, which is providing free laptops to military veterans this holiday season.

The campaign launched on November 28, announcing the first 1,000 veterans to submit a completed needs assessment form would receive a free laptop. The response was overwhelming, with all spots filled within just three days by veterans representing the various military branches: Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy, Space Force, and U.S. Coast Guard. This response underscores the critical need for technology access among veterans. Whether it’s reconnecting with loved ones during the holidays, accessing health care and benefits, job opportunities, and pursuing online education, County veterans can do just that, thanks to this program.

The laptops were distributed at 15 County Library locations by the County’s Delete The Divide staff. These devices are funded by the County’s general fund with approval from the Board of Supervisors.

Delete The Divide has provided more than 2,500 free laptops across the County to students, seniors, families, veterans, community-based organizations, and people experiencing homelessness. In 2024, the goal is to distribute an additional 7,500 new laptops to constituents in need with funding from the American Rescue Plan Act and a grant from the California Public Utilities Commission.
