Affordable Internet Service to Delete The Divide

An estimated 416,000 households in Los Angeles County live without home internet service. That’s a major sign of the digital divide even though L.A. County is one of the most connected regions of the country. We started the Community Broadband Networks initiative to provide an option for affordable and reliable high-speed internet service for those experiencing the digital divide. We’re moving forward with pilot projects around the County that will provide low-cost internet plans with fast, reliable speeds that will allow everyone in a household to thrive. The pilot areas cover underserved communities where 20% or more lack internet service based on data from the US Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. We have announced four projects so far and anticipate service to begin to roll out in 2024.
