Exposing youth to technologies that educate and inspire creativity, innovation, and aspirations.

On October 6, 2022, the County of Los Angeles hosted the inaugural 2022 Tech Empowerment Day at SoFi Stadium. More than 3,200 students and educators were in attendance from middle and high schools across Los Angeles County. Highlights included hands-on training with modern technologies, laptop giveaways, corporate promotional items, resources for educators, and access to the football field to experience technology features in the stadium.

Thank you to all participants for helping to make this event a success!!

A Few Messages

“It’s been amazing seeing the kids light up with joy as they learn about the technology possibilities that are out there.” – Janet Stewart, ICEF View Park Preparatory Elementary and Middle School

“The widespread inclusion of tech, awesome engagement with community and great partnership.” – Luis Ortiz, Elizabeth Learning Center

“THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH for a BEAUTIFUL event!! My students had a GREAT time.” – Kendis Wilbourne M.S., Crenshaw Magnet High School

“Our students really enjoyed interacting with different vendors and being able to walk on the field. Students were able to interact with different types of tech and get their questions answered by specific vendors. As educators, we appreciated that many vendors had free resources and courses available to be able to share with our entire school. Overall we had a pleasant experience at the event, with DTD staff, and vendors!” – Eduardo Coronel and Nathalie Ordaz, Options for Youth – Cudahy

“The buzz of excitement on the bus ride home was electric. Students loved the coding activities in the Meta Tent and assembling components on a motherboard. In our computer science classroom, we have our techy world which is a place of belonging and the only place some students feel they “fit-in” on a large high school campus. Allowing students to network with people who have made technology their career is inspiring and motivating for them to continue to work hard. The technology world goes beyond our one classroom and period.” – Charity Evans, MA Ed,  Golden Valley High School
